Zeeshan Ali had shown glimpses of greater achievements at very young age. At age 13, he won the Bengal Men's State championship. Interestingly he beat his father, former Davis Cup player and coach, Akhtar Ali in the finals.
Zeeshan's achievements as a Junior included Asian Junior championship in 1986. He also reached the Wimbledon Junior Singles Semi-finals in 1986 and the US Open Junior Doubles Finals in 1987. In 1986, he reached a career high junior ranking of World No 2 and Asia No1.
Zeeshan Ali won his National Championship at the age of 16. Over the years, he won the Nationals five times and was the top ranked Indian player.
Zeeshan was a consistent part of the Indian Davis cup team from 1987-1994. He was also part of squad that reached the finals against Sweden in 1987.
Zeeshan also had success on the Pro Men's ATP tour and reached a career high ranking of 126 in 1988.
After quitting competitive tennis in 1995, Zeeshan moved his base to Dubai. He set up his own tennis academy there. He was also selected to be the National Tennis Coach of the UAE Davis Cup team.
